BREAKING THE ICE

John and I have just started having a youth service on Wednesday nights for the youth at church.

Since we live in the parsonage next to the church and we have run out of places at the church to have classes, we decided to have the kids meet in our living room.

If you have been to my house you know how difficult this can be. Our house isn't what you would call enormous.

Last Wednesday night we had 23 people altogether in there.

We are really enjoying doing this and hope the kids are as well.

We are hoping to get a new building built in the near future, so that as we grow we can have a place for the youth to continue having their services.

My only worry is knowing this will take time and by the looks of things my living room isn't going to work for very long. I don't think we could have put anymore kids in there last week and this is only the 2nd service we have had.

We have also had a great response from the people in our church who are wanting to help us out with this.

John, Brian, Amy, and myself are there every week, but we will also pull in different people each week to help.

We start out all together and snack and talk, then we separate boys and girls and the guys go and teach the boys a practical lesson and the girls do the same. Then we meet back together for our worship service. SO far it has been great.

Sunday afternoon we had an icebreaker party, so that the kids and adult workers could get to know each other better. I think we had around 35 people show up.

We played games and snacked around. I think the mad gab game was the best. We also had a contest to see who could eat 6 saltine crackers in 1 minute. You may think this sounds easy, but rest assured it IS NOT. At least they did try!

Here are a few pics from Sunday. This week I'll try to remember to take some Wednesday night of all the kids.
